Destination Walks
Having a destination in mind for your walks or bike rides can make you go farther and longer. Today, my brother Michael and I hiked to Poo-Poo point on Tiger Mountain, near Issaquah, Washington. It is a bare spot on the top of the mountain from where hang gliders take off and the rest of us admire the view.
Michael set a brisk pace so that he could “…keep me in shape for triathlons”, always looking out for my best interest! I had to keep up to save face! The switchback trail is a 1500 foot vertical hike and felt as if we were going up stairs in many parts. It is a gorgeous walk with a breathtaking view at the top.
Lucy, Mike’s dog, had energy to spare on the way up and was quite subdued on the way down. My quads are a bit sore today. I need to do more lunges this summer to keep up with my younger brother!
